Fatima’s Story: A Fight for Life, A Gift of Love
💛 A Bright Little Girl With a Big Fight Ahead
Fatima Monserrat Estrada was born with a sparkle in her eyes — and a hidden battle within her body. At just a few months old, she was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare and serious condition that damages the liver’s bile ducts and eventually leads to liver failure. From that moment on, her life became a fight for survival.
Her parents watched helplessly as their daughter’s health deteriorated — jaundice, weight loss, infections, fatigue. The doctors gave them a heartbreaking truth: Fatima needed a liver transplant to live. And she needed it soon.
“There was a moment when the doctors lost hope. But Fátima never stopped fighting. Since she was a baby, she’s shown us she wants to live.” – Carlos, Fatima’s father
💔 The Waiting, the Setbacks, and the Strength
The family had a living donor: her aunt Clarita. She was ready to give a piece of herself — literally — to save her niece’s life. But the journey was far from simple.
Twice, Fatima’s transplant was postponed. Once due to medical setbacks, once because the family couldn’t afford the cost of surgery. With every delay, her condition worsened. They feared she would run out of time.
Still, Fatima kept smiling. She kept fighting. And so did her family.
With the help of Fight For Life Club Foundation and an army of generous donors and volunteers, the family enough money for the surgery. Local raffles, community bazaars, online fundraisers — every peso brought Fatima one step closer to life.
✨ The Day Everything Changed
On July 7th, after months of waiting and fighting, Fatima was finally wheeled into the operating room in Guadalajara. Her aunt Clarita beside her, ready to give the ultimate gift.
“As the doctors came out smiling, we all started crying. We knew then that our little girl had made it through. That moment was everything.” – Fatima’s mother
The 12-hour surgery was a success. The liver transplant worked. Clarita recovered safely. Fatima opened her eyes after the surgery and smiled — a fragile but powerful reminder that love can save lives.
🌈 A New Beginning
Today, Fatima is back home in Tabasco. She’s attending checkups, gaining weight, and dancing around the house. Her story has become a beacon of hope for families going through similar struggles.
She recently celebrated her birthday — a day her family calls her “second birth.”
Her aunt Clarita? She’s back to full health and will always be her niece’s hero — her living donor angel.
